something new and something old

It's been a long time since I've posted. I've been taking time off to nurse my mental health and go through my identity crisis in peace. I am currently taking a Cinema 4D Basecamp course with School of Motion. I have returned to what I was doing when I started this blog- motion graphics, but this time I'm combining it with my interest in 3D.

I want to say I have a good feeling about this all. Because I do, but I feel like that's what I said about switching to character animation, and look where I am now. I'm still an animator nonetheless, just a different area of it. I could go into a long post about my reasonings and some of the signs I saw that led me to this point, but I don't want to spend too much time on this post. Basically, I will just say, the reason I feel good about this is because it feels like a happy medium. I really love working in Illustrator and After Effects. I have for a long time and I've become especially comfortable in Illustrator over the years. I still love the graphic aesthetic that a lot of motion media has. C4D so far feels a lot like Illustrator combined with the 3D aspect of working in Maya, but the way I think and navigate feels like Illustrator. It feels new and yet familiar at the same time.

We'll see what happens. But for right now I'm just trying new things and enjoying the learning process again.
