Walk Cycle Practice

I've been trying to do this whole walk cycle practice every day thing and I'm really glad that I am and taking the time to really study walk cycles and get into the habit of applying the basic principles.

This is just a stepped WIP of a walk cycle. I haven't done any animation with the chest, neck, or head yet.

But I must say this is much better than what I've done in the past. Also focusing in on just a basic vanilla walk is also simplifying the process. I did a quick walk cycle test over break when I was trying out the Zoey rig and it looked pretty... well it needed work. It made me realize that this is something I really haven't locked down yet.

I've felt kinda bad that super basic thing that every character animator needs to know is something I'm still struggling with. But these exercises will make it so that that's not the case anymore. I've been formally learning 3D animation in Maya for 15 months now and I would hope to be better by now, but at the same time I guess I shouldn't expect to be crazy good or anything- not saying that's not possible either. I'll learn at my own rate I guess.

And I'll want to practice this moving out rather than a cycle once I've gotten more confident just nailing these poses and understanding the flow of it.
