3D Bean Bag WIP + New Domain Name

Just another day of fixing my 3D bean bag. I got some feedback and am going off the notes I took.

As I had talked about before, this isn't going to follow my 2D version exactly just because 3D works a lot differently. The rig doesn't move the same way my drawings do. I'm not really doing an "on 2's" thing since it is going to be splined. Also, I don't have to follow my professor's "no holds" rule so I have the freedom to make changes as I wish. The sideways head-turn was kind of forced in there due to the fact that I wasn't allowed to hold at all. I didn't really like how that made the original animation look because it didn't really make sense and seemed forced because it was. Another thing was that this animation got an 80% and I never got to redo this one so it's not exactly a perfect or great animation to be referencing in the first place.

But... it give the project some freshness which I can appreciate.

In other news, Wix was having their Cyber Monday sale and so I bought my first ever domain name! But for my professional website that is currently under construction. (I also really wanted to buy the domain for animatatoes, but I’ve gotta budget and put priority on the professional things).I figured I was planning to buy one soon anyway for the career fair in February so might as well take advantage of the deal now. I didn't realize that this website was made public with the domain purchase and is now showing my old website design that looks horribly unprofessional and is full of 2D animation with my 2016 reel. -ugh- -cringe-

But it will come in due time. Right now, it's not doing any harm and no one is probably even seeing it and even if they are, it doesn't really matter. I'm going to be updating everything very soon anyway. (resumes, reel, etc) so that will all need to be changed to the new site name then too.

That's really a driving force right now for me trying to learn to 3D animate during the winter break. I really, REALLY can't wait to have a reel and work that's actually full of 3D things, all relevant things. I'm in the awkward transition period because all my work that I have on my Vimeo and my website is pretty much all 2D or 2D motion graphics. Completely irrelevant and not really helpful at all. A lot of my reel will unfortunately be made up of things from the 3D principles class I'll be taking, but I can only help that by doing stuff now even though it's all lousy. It's the only way I'll get better and it's better than doing nothing at all.

And as always, I'm trying to figure out ZBrush. I'm getting inspired by all the 3D artists I follow on Instagram and tumblr and I really want to be able to model such smooth and cartoony characters. All I can do right now is just make lumpy representations of heads. I know it will come in time as I am still just learning how to navigate the interface, but again, I'm just really eager to have some of that kind of work on my website and all my social pages.
