Animation Motivation from Gildedguy.com

I stumbled across Gildedguy.com created by a young animator named Michael. Michael makes really fluid, colorful, "shiny" 2D animation. His work is very clean and fun to watch.

I came across his article, "No Fun- How to stay Motivated to Animate"

Maybe this article will come across negative, but I just liked how relatable it was. And oddly, it made me feel better. Maybe just realizing that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I don't know. It's just like a different perspective I guess. take it as you will.

This is a topic that I have been really in need of lately as the summer of being away from school and people has made me become sluggish and sad. In this article, Michael really hits the nail on the head. He names exactly everything I've been feeling and thinking and I really like his points about fun vs work and how "loving what you do" doesn't mean you have to always be ecstatic about it. Because let's face it, work is work. You'll get frustrated and discouraged and disappointed time and time again. Things will get tough. But if it's not challenging for you, then what's the point?

He really talks about how it's the satisfaction that's the key and the reward at the end.

This is definitely an article I will have to pull up whenever I'm feeling down and slow with my work. Honestly, reading this really made me feel like getting back up.
